On June 3rd, The Vinyl Music Hall will hold a benefit concert for local blues singer, Linda Delgado, AKA Mama Lucky. Linda is needing surgery, and help to pay for pre and post surgery copays, labs, and doctors. The surgery will help her get back on her feet, literally, as she now has health issues that hinder her walking and complicate performing. This will be a life changing thing, and will enable her to live life again and to continue her musical journey.
"Mama Lucky grew up in east Texas in the 1950s. Her mama owned a honky tonk on the Louisiana Texas border and she was reared to live hard, and sing about it. By the late sixties Mama Lucky was fronting seminal Texas rock bands like "Sweet Peter" and "Tar Baby". She spent her formative years kicking around the early Austin music scene, rubbing shoulders with the likes of Townes Van Zandt, Guy Clark, and Shake Russell. She spent a year opening for Willie Nelson in the mid-seventies. She has been part of the Pensacola music scene since 1985, playing most of the clubs in the Pensacola area, and in the house band at "Banana Bob's " on Pensacola Beach.
In 1998, she did a self produced album of original songs and covers called "Barricades", recording three songs at the famous Sun Studios in Memphis, Tennessee.
In 1999, she met Jim White, a cult favorite, alt-country singer songwriter, and began working with him. After doing back up vocals on two albums. Jim gave her a big break, by asking her to sing his music on a album he wanted to produce himself.
Jim White created "Mama Lucky", and the album "Permanent Stranger" was released internationally, in 2009.

THE ICARUS EFFECT

In late 2010, The Icarus Effect took flight in North West Florida's music scene and quickly became one of it's biggest, littlest bands. Rising out of the remains of bands Emulsiphier and Endings Edge, co-founders Josh Apple (guitar), Cory Dull (bass), and Ray Ruddy (drums/vocals) decided to start a rock band with a simple mission of pursuing a love of music. With the addition of Mike Bersabal (turntables/guitar) and Scott Houseknecht (lead vocals), the ensemble hit the ground running, playing their first show after a mere two months with national act 12 Stones. Combining intricate guitar riffs with turntables, samples, and a melodic vocal style, The Icarus Effect would continue to soar and prove themselves as an energetic, must-see live performance.
October 2011, founding member Josh Apple left the band to serve in the United States Air Force. Former Endings Edge guitarist Ralph Haynes was a perfect fit as a replacement and seamlessly made the transition into the band's current lineup. With the upcoming release of their self-produced EP in the summer of 2012, The Icarus Effect continues to rise as they will immediately begin work on their second album.

THE UGLI STICK

The Ugli Stick has been writing and performing original music for 10 years. While many peers, bands, clubs, vans, trailers, hairstyles and years have come and gone The Ugli Stick has remained true to it’s goal. The goal being to write and perform honest music regardless of what style, genre, image or sonic portrait it may paint. Band members Eric “The Birdman” Erdman, Tim Stanton, Quintin “Q” Berry and Dale Drinkard, Jr., each have diverse individual musical backgrounds and influences while sharing a common love of Rock, Hip-Hop, Funk and Reggae. Each member of The Ugli Stick is an active songwriter for the band which allows the band to blur the lines between different styles of music and create the unique blend that is The Ugli Stick.
